William Boyd played the role of Hopalong Cassidy for many years in film and on television during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. He was one of the first to use his celebrity to endorse many products, such as bread, ice cream, milk, tuna, and many other products. This is common practice today, but in his own way Boyd helped revolutionize the advertisement industry.
